A question about storing breast milk? I was looking at breast pumps and the storage bags. I saw good reviews for one pump but bad reviews for it bags. Can you use bags from other brands for medela breast pumps? Also i heard good things about Lansinoh bags! The reason i want the bags is because the pump only comes with 2 containers and i have many bottles of different brands already so i want to use the bags for all the bottles! I use the storage bottles that came with the pump for storing in the fridge and I use Lansinoh bottle bags to store in the freezer. But to be fair, I have not tried any other bags than the Lansinoh and was happy with them so i stuck with that. I hope this helped!! :) All Answers Answer 1 you dont even need bags to store the breastmilk, I always used the plastic containers that the pump comes with. 2008-10-04 19:57:54 Answer 2 Yeh, you can use whatever bags you want. I used the Medela Pump in Style and the Lansinoh bags (they say "My Mommy's Milk" on them and I thought that was just too cute!). 2008-10-04 19:58:14 Answer 3 Yes! I buy their breast pads and get free samples inside so I have never actually had to buy them. They are great and I like how they are double sealed. 2008-10-04 19:59:43 Answer 5 yer you can just use containers i learned this from the hosp, because i was pumping their and storing it in their freezer, the just had round plastic containers (sterilised in milton) 2008-10-04 20:00:10 Answer 6 you certainly don't have to use the same brand bags at all. It's just what works best for you. If you would rather buy plastic containers you can do that or you can do the bags if you feel like you might like another brand try those! Do what your comfortable with you'll be more successful! 2008-10-04 20:00:12 Answer 7 you can use what ever one you want to use. the bags are easier for storage due to they are individual but you can use containers too as long as you properly clean them out after every use. 2008-10-04 20:01:19 Answer 8 You can use any brand bags you want. I just found them to be messier & harder to keep from spilling RN & mom 2008-10-04 20:02:33 Answer 9 I use a Medela Pump and Lansinoh bags. Just some advice, if you are pumping to freeze, I would put them in bags, but if you are pumping to refrigerate and use the next couple of days, I would get some more bottles with flat lids. That way, you just pop a nipple onto them and go. If you pump and put it in a storage bag to use the next day, you have to throw away the bag once you pour the milk into the bottle. To me, that is a waste to do that all the time. I have about 8 bottles with flat lids. Once I fill all those up, I put it in the storage bags to freeze as excess. At work, I am beginning to pump as much if not more than she eats. So I take enough bottles to equal what she eats during the day while I'm gone and then put the rest into a bag. 2008-10-04 20:06:24 Answer 10 You can use any bag. I have an old set of Medela bags that actually attach to the pump, not too great. I used Lansinoh brand bags to just pour over from bottles. They work awesome, really like them. I now only use them for freezer storage. Now that I am at work and don't have time to do all that pour over mess along with clean up. I now use the Playtex Drop-in's pump and store system since those are the bottles we use. I bought two sets which comes with 6 pieces to store after directly pumping into the drop-ins. Each package only has one pump attachment so if you double pump you'll need, and want, the extra pieces for the pump attachment. This is so much easier for my husband to warm up bottles at home, easier for me to use at work, and that way I'm not wasting bags.. we use the drop-ins that were pumped in to!! I sometimes use the Medela bottles to store but this was also tedious for cleaning. and we did not use those bottles for feeding. I have a Medela Pump in Style. But otherwise, if you do not use drop-ins, then go for the lansinoh bags.. I love 'em! 2008-10-04 20:07:14 Answer 11 I use a Medela Pump.
